Great Online Ticket Resource: Acheapseat.com

If  you're trying to get Walt Disney Concert Hall Tickets, Allstate Arena Tickets, or the Houston Rodeo Tickets, you know that it can be difficult.  I wanted some good seats so like most people trying to get the best for their money, I did a search. I ran across a good ticket broker: Acheapseat.com, with live people on the phone that can help by answering your questions when you tell them what dates you're looking for, the budget you have and the kind of seating you want at your event.

Through this one broker, you can get tickets to sports events, festivals, comedy, concerts and concert tours and Broadway shows.  They have good prices because they can buy in volume and pass some of the savings on to people like us who need to get to an event. They even sell tickets to circuses, family events and dog shows. That's quite a range!

The TV Planner-ator for My TV Options

I was trying to figure out my TV options and found a new website for DirectTV service: http://mytvoptions.com/ that you can use find the channels that your local directtv service has. The site gives you an idea of the specials that are being offered for service in your area.  It does say that the information on direct tv specials needs to be verified through Direct TV by calling them but it's a way to narrow down some decisions you might be making about TV service.

The site's "Decisionator" tool generates DirectTV options for the zip code you enter after you check "Does Matter," "Doesn't Matter" "Must Have It," or "Don't Want It" next to the Features:

High Definition Channels
Sports Channels
DVR (like Tivo)
Movie Channels
Local Channels

It looks like a good way to figure out what My TV Options are when it's time to change services or move.

What's with the name, anyway?

thenailartdiva name for this online profile is from my original thought to write about nail art and cosmetics and find others who had the same interests but I've been so busy that I have been posting mostly about music and haven't had that much time to go mess around at Sephora.  I have been listening to a lot of music, though, and I like to share what I hear with links here and there. :)

It’s Easier For Me Get My Urban Decay Fix

I got a hello from a friend at shopwiki.com asking me to read some of their cosmetics articles and product recommendations. Since I like finding out about new eyeshadows, I had to take a look. I found an interesting article on buying makeup that had some useful guidelines to keep in mind for when to replace expired makeup and should probably be replaced. If you go there, it's toward the bottom of the page.

Unfortunately, when I get a color of eye shadow I really like, I am slow to replace it because the colors are often discontinued after some time, so I tend to save them - exactly opposite of the beauty pros' advice. One useful feature of this site is that if you wanted to replace something in your makeup collection, they list a bunch of different brands, and if you click on eye shadow, like I did, you go to a page with a huge selection of eye shadow products from a collection of online stores, so you can compare products and prices.

If you find a product that's for sale at several different stores like my Urban Decay eye shadow, you can see what colors you find in the stores that are listed. Helpful information like product features, reviews and related products are also listed on the subpage, so you can read more about the product you're looking for. I liked that shopwiki has a lot of guides and suggestions for all kinds of makeup.

Shopwiki.com's article on makeup included recommendations for how to choose and buy eye shadows, color matching and shadow types with application suggestions. It was helpful and informative. I also liked that for some products, there's a wide range of stores to choose from to buy your eyeshadow  once you find a product that you like and it doesn't seem like shopwiki only features certain stores. You'll find Macy's and Nordstrom right next to Ulta and Drugstore.com.

Massive Attack: More Is Better

Current mood: awake

Massive Attack has some great new tracks on their site, easing me into my workday. Thank you so much for sharing them...Live With Me Stripped and United Snakes are moody, insinuating, building goodness with attention-getting beats and mixes. I listen to a lot of dance, downtempo, house, techno and trance, and the more I hear, the more impressed I am when someone's work sounds very original and unlike everyone else's. That's Massive Attack.  They can be added to a genre but I don't think other groups "sound like Massive Attack."  That's what I like about them. ;)

Cyberpunk Left A Mark

Cyberpunk said "check this out" and I did... That is a damned talented DJ from Dallas/Fort Worth who makes some worthy electronica.

We launched MyCaster - you can get a free profile!

I am so excited to be telling you that we have launched MyCasterTV.com.

You there,  reading this, are very welcome to go there and create your own FREE profile. I hope to see you there. If you're an artist or musician, please post your videos, images and music as you wish. Just make sure it's not something you wouldn't show your kid sister.  The more the merrier and hopefully it ends up getting you more exposure too.

What is this and why am I telling you about it?

I like making announcements like these for our clients, at our company, LucidStream, but this one is really special for me because it's ours. We make YouTube-style websites, complete with admin control and streaming service available as a complete turnkey package for lifestyle brands, products, services and entertainment companies to showcase their products, services and people in an environment similar to YouTube but with none of the competition or headaches.

MyCasterTV.com has a bulletin board, mass video uploader, user profiles (with video uploader), online ad delivery (we'll be adding the ads next week).

We'll be making a few changes as we go but I hope you'll join us as we launch and stick around as we grow.

I would like to know what you think about the system so don't be shy - drop me a line and let me know what you think!

Ambra Red is from Stockholm and she'll kick your a!! with her new Superhero Breakdance track. If you like Miss Kittin and Felix Da Housecat, you need to check her out. Dancing with Storm Lee

Storm Lee added some bounce to our Tuesday a.m. here.  I Came Here To Dance did not disappoint and Youth got me moving. His bio has an inspiring story about a 14-year old Scottish high school drop-out leaving his homeland at 17 with $400.00, a demo tape and a one way ticket to New York City. The rest, including the Latin Grammy in his bio, is history. This is another great story about drive and determination paying off.

I'll have some Kuriaki with that

I’ll have some Kuriaki with that
Current mood: mellow
Category: Music

Kuriaki stopped by with some interesting electronic sounds. He's been producing music for 10 years according to his bio and he doesn't have a music background. Check out his tracks - you'll see what drive, persistence and desire can turn out. His bio says his influences are IDM, downtempo and dance with infectuous melodies. I thought Travoltism was the most fun, you can hear the disco/early 80's influences and almost visualize the neon and tight polyester.

Kuriaki posted a new video. It's like listening to music through your headphones with the TV off while you're doing something else...but it's a music video. Creative social commentary on a current trend we have of media overload and multitasking:

Digging Rex the Dog’s new minimix

I like this new mix... Rex The Dog does not disappoint with bouncy, electro grooves, chunks and splices in their new minimix, right at the top of their profile's music list. Tune in and try to sit still.

By the way... I've been posting these little notes here for a while and I see that once in a while someone actually reads them, but I'd like to know what you think so feel free to drop a line with a comment. I won't reply to spam, but if you have something to say, don't be shy.

Maroon 5 wants you to be informed

Category: News and Politics

Maroon 5 posted a myspace blog with the Republican presidential and vice presidential acceptance speeches. Being informed is really important- it makes it harder to be concescended to and easier to tune one's hearing to catch relevant information from a candidate about what they'll actually do if elected.
